North Kansas City Riverfront Development

Kansas City, Missouri

Kansas City's riverfront was once a bustling port and industrial center, and now many areas along the river lie isolated and abandoned. The North Kansas City Riverfront Development project re-envisions a seven-mile stretch of the riverfront from Charles Wheeler Airport past historic Harlem District along the levee to Riverfront East, creating 5 distinct areas.

The re-imagined area includes passive and active recreation, connections to nature, revitalized historic districts, improved pedestrian connectivity, parks, overlooks, public art, and gathering/event spaces. Vireo created all renderings, infographics and presentation boards for use in public engagement efforts.
