Mike Henrichs

Landscape Designer

What is your favorite part of what you do?

In working in our profession there is always the opportunity for the unexpected.  One day you’re working on a landscape plan for an apartment complex, the next it’s a playground for a neighborhood park, and who knows there might be placing artwork in a plaza or detail a column for a gate.

Why do you do what you do?

Finding “The Answer” to a design problem is always an exciting process.  There are always so many variables and influences to consider and balance.

I really enjoy being involved with all my kids activities, whether as a coach, a fan, or even taking care of the local fields, stages, or courts  where they all compete.

Outside of your work day, how do you like to spend your time?

Job titles I have held before joining the profession: apprentice electrician, shoe salesman, piano mover, go-kart attendant, microbiologist, and scientific recruiter.

What’s the most surprising thing about you?
