Branson W 76 Country Boulevard
Branson, Missouri
Branson’s 76 Entertainment District is a lively, unique destination for all ages and Vireo recently created a dramatic reimagining of W76 Country Boulevard to provide a safer and captivating visitor experience for the District. The plan weaves together the scenic beauty of the Ozarks with the energy and excitement of the District’s shops, theaters, museums, recreation, and restaurants.
At the plan’s heart, are safer, accessible sidewalks which are essential for activating the street, enhancing connectivity, and promoting walking. Median protected pedestrian ‘Z-crossings’ with pedestrian-activated HAWK signals are proposed at four locations, forcing pedestrians to turn and look at oncoming traffic before crossing the road. Additionally, Vireo designed an iconic, memory-making interactive activity center with passive and active amenities for visitors to enjoy, which includes porch swings, game tables, lounge chair seating, interactive music equipment and pedestrian scale lighting to activate the spaces at night.
Finally, the landscape design combines native plantings and seasonal blooms with natural materials such as boulders, dry creek beds, weathered steel and wood accents, further bringing the natural beauty of the Ozark region to the W76 corridor. These large, sweeping layers of plantings and natural materials are carefully laid out to provide a buffer for key pedestrian zones while complimenting the whimsical atmosphere of the District.
