Omaha Parks System Master Plan
Omaha, Nebraska
Omaha is seeing increasing diversity, shifting age demographics, and household patterns that are reshaping expectations for public services. With over 250 parks, more than 10,000 acres of land, 130 miles of trails, and a wide range of specialized amenities, the system also plays a vital role in community health, well-being, and civic pride.
As a major subconsultant to Berry Dunn for this systemwide master plan, Vireo played several roles, providing a condition assessment of all parks, a thorough level of service analysis, a maintenance management plan, and a trails connectivity plan.
Vireo’s city-wide social equity analysis also combined demographic indicators such as youth population, older adults, income levels, diversity, and population density with level of quality (LOQ) ratings and service area maps to identify potential disparities and guide more equitable investment strategies.
