Vireo is leading a multi-disciplinary team to create a master plan for what will be a truly unique bike-centric park that offers amenities you can’t find anywhere else in the region – a bike playground, bike skills and training areas, and miles of trails, along with traditional park amenities.
The team has been working very closely with city officials, staff and community groups for a year on phased master planning, economic analyses, maintenance recommendations/guides, and detailed analyses of the current site and what would be needed to bring the vision to life.
Vireo kicked off the engagement process by directly connecting with more than 700 people in one weekend to discuss ideas, possibilities, and residents’ desires for a new park. Vireo built a digital survey and communication strategy upon that feedback and engaged a total of 1200 more likely users. Beyond that, we engaged eight separate focus/user groups with a wide variety of perspectives to help us guide the process, from city business leaders to inclusion advocates. The entire team got their boots on for tours of the park to experience and discuss the site’s opportunities and challenges first-hand before putting ideas on paper.
